Hi Madhu,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I made an appointment with Expat center this time. Let me see. Also, there is a long waiting time for the appointments at the gemeente these days. Sure, I will make an additional one in case on the gemeente again. Thanks.

Hi Madhu,
Thanks for patiently replying all the newbies question. Recently, I went to gemeente Den Haag to register my marriage certificate. I had presented them the original marriage certificate and it's apostilled copy from the MEA. But, the gemeente Den Haag refused to register saying that they need the original marriage certificate apostilled. To my knowledge Govt. India doesn't legalize/apostille the original marriage certificates. They only apostille, copy of the original marriage certificate issued by the state authorities. In fact the Dutch embassy and the IND accepted the apostilled copy to issue MVV and partner visa without any trouble in India. Please let me know did I miss something here.
Thanks.

In India these documents are not reissued. So photocopy the original and get it attested by the issuing department with date stamp. Then use it for legalization.

Hi, Thanks for the wonderful post. My query is regarding Birth and Marriage Certificate validity. I see many old posts on that but I am not sure what is currently the case. I need to apostille the Birth and Marriage Certificates. However, the agency that does apostille warned me that they have to be recently issued however, no such requirement is mentioned by the Relocation Agency in the Netherlands. Please clarify whether re-issue for the Birth certificate is mandatory.
Mine is old and from a village where it will be very difficult to get it reissued.

No because it is more than 6months old. Make a photocopy, get it attested by the marriage bureau with current date and use it for legalization.
